WHITEOUT is a fictional soundtrack for three research stations (Aboa, Byrd, Great Wall) and the specific weather condition, where heaven and earth become blurred, giving the album it’s title.

Over a length of 166 minutes atmospheric soundscapes, noise elements, ethnic voices and catchy melodies melt into a musical landscape between icy quietness and captivating complexity. Ambient meets Industrial, assimilating with lush Drone-sections. The boundaries of musical genres become blurred. The moscow based band, which combines modern electronic with retro sounds and the dark aesthetics, is inspired by criminal cinema of the middle XX century.

The band adopts this into modern reality, while they prefer analogue sounds to digital ones. The debut “Blowback” shows stories about love, passion, despair and crime and brings oneself to think about the loneliness, that lives in all of us.

“I brought myself to town late at night. I cadged a cigarette off a tramp and took a seat on the railings till all that noize and fuss at the station made me wanna lurk somewhere in the dark. I was roaming a couple of hours before I managed to find a decent bar which offered booze I could afford to get up to the moment. Down in the cellar among fools and drunkards, trapped between stench of cheap liqueurs and acrid smoke I saw a nice chick who dragged me out in the streets. We hung out for a while and later on made out near a deserted car park on junk. We had a really good time. I lost her somewhere around downtown, crawling there, followed by a police car. Nothing can bring me down. I like this music. I call myself a City Hound. They call me Absent One.”

Absent One, a famous Russian garage-synth band, was formed in 2009, Moscow. It was created by the friends Nick and Alex. Over the whole year the band was giving concerts all over the state. They drew public attention after performing at the first Russian Goth Festival “Dark Entries”.

The debut album “Blowback”, released the same year and re-released as a download on Ionium Records in 2011, had a rather specific sound, in a way reminiscent of Covenant, and was favorably received by critics. The Song “Stewardess” was then included in the “Synth Radio Russians” compilation.

The year 2010 showed significant changes both in the music and the style of the performance. Still using pure electronic sound, the band tended to goth, punk and garage genres. The new backing vocalist Helen introduced cabaret manner into the new sounding. The Track “Hollywood” was included in the “Best Russian Dark Stage artists” compilation.

Absent One continues to perform on a regular basis and the new album “Places” will be released on Ionium Records on October 14th.

Let’s face it, they have created a monster, its tentacles spread from Germany to Norway, its head buried deep inside the darkest pit of our minds… now it is time to unleash it upon the rest of the world and let it feed until its ugly belly feels no more hunger or thirst.. at least for a while.

When Ghostfog and Liquid Grey started this project they just thought about doing a few sounds, a few tracks together but soon they found out that they wanted more, and why not? In these days of uninspired commercialized corporate music all around us they felt like doing what they do best, which is to do exactly what they want without any compromises and without any plans to “make it big” and make “big money” out of it. To hell with corporate polished music, this is the raw deal!

Ghostfog took it one step further and suggested that they make an album and maybe go even further He also came up with the brilliant title “Thornfields” and did some great artwork . These are very exciting times my friends and this is just the beginning, in other words ” chapter one” in this trip through the darkest parts of the subconscious. Fasten your seat belts…Now Thornfields are happy to present you with the latest results they’ve been working on for so many days and nights. It became a pretty strange mix of styles but became very chilling in the end. Have a glass of wine lay down and take a look at the moon.. They’re far beyond.

15 months after the release of “Formation Of Chaos” the duo Deied, constisting of Din-Tah Æon and n1n0 (amongst others aeon sable, Melanculia), return with their new work “Tales Of Sodenliah”. The album’s protagonist strolls, in the name of mankind, through the valleys of the imaginary Sodenliah – on the search for answers of this society’s questions.

Mankind for the first time achieves, to enter the interior of the human mind and what comes across the main character’s way even makes religious lore and darwin’s evolution theory look like discount goods of an inflationary store.

“If you continue this way, we ALL will die!” the quintessence of the gained awarenesses, which are described in the 10 tracks of the album. Altogether “Tales Of Sodenliah” becomes a genial Science Fiction Soundtrack, which, due to the subtle audio technique and it’s extraordinary instrumentation, rises far above a standardized play back and lyrical words and sometimes reminds of downfall scenarios of bands like Project Pitchfork or Wumpscut.

This audio-experience is linked with the artwork of the german underground-artist Ghostfog, who is responsible for a part of the new album, too. “Tales Of Sodenliah” will be released on September the 23rd 2011 as a download as much as in a limited digipack edition on afmusic (TS-Musix) and Ionium Records.

Ainm is a downtempo and electronica-oriented one-man project launched in 2005 by Moscow composer and musician Ilya Kovalev (now living in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom). Ainm (which simply means name in Irish) follows the style that could be roughly described as historical electro, a combination of computer music techniques with strong interest to historical musical forms and aesthetics.

At the same time, Ainm prefers to stay away from both thumping dance beats and naive New Age-esque attempts to perform medieval/ethnic music in a contemporary way. Although he likes to use certain authentic elements in his music, such as alternative tuning scales, timbres of early instruments, bits and pieces of medieval music theory, he deliberately avoids any stylisations and performs only original material.

New EP “Zero Spring” of the Russian-British project is focused on the idea of rest, stasis, end of journey, which in ritual and sacramental reality can turn into new beginning. The trademark mixture of electronic and acoustic elements now makes the grade with the bulk of sounds being of natural origin, treated and processed electronically to produce a peculiar, somewhat dark and spicy, sonic palette. 2011 isn’t just the year in which woman’s football is accepted finally – it’s also the year of dAVOS! Only a few months after the retrospective “Promo 2004-2010″ and about 2 years after the last release “Split” the synthpop-masters from Austria come back with brand new material – for the fan’s delight.

“Tender Loving Care” is the new maxi-single’s name, which even could be an EP, due to it’s filled up content and whose content, with all the remixing guests, makes oneself’s mouth water. Scene-ikon and producer Per-Anders Kurenbach also has worked here, as much as Chai of Jesus On Extasy and AndyK of Melotron. “We know and cherish Andy Krüger of Melotron for a while and as we played the song “Tender Loving Care” for him, when he visited vienna the last time, he urgently wanted to remix the song.” The result came out quite acceptable.

Next to that, the CD, which will be available as a download too, contains the first professional music video (http://youtu.be/dBIsYiY3tKc) in dAVOS’ band history. It was shot in two clubs in vienna. “The shooting was a lot of fun, not even because of the beautiful extras.” dAVOS revealed. “It all felt very real and easy. Leopold (the director) has made a very good job.” With the video, also the new line-up will be presented, in which Matt C. took over the job of Gerd Hall. Matt is very comfortable in that position: “When I was asked lovingly by Michael last year, if I want to join dAVOS, because they would need a good man, I already had some other offers of well-known bands. I am convinced, that this was the right choice.”

“Tender Loving Care” is more than just an appetizer for the upcoming album “I Could Sense A Tragedy”. This maxi-single underlines the deep love and solidarity of dAVOS to their fans.
